The Many Home Uses Of Water Pumps And How they Are Used by Aydan Corkern
The ways that we are able to manipulate the movement and placement of water has came such a long way since the ancient times when people dug canals and wells to get their Water Supply. Even though canals and wells are still used today, the invention of the water pump has helped us get the water we need much easier and faster.
The water pumps of today can be ran using fuel of several types or with electricity. Many different items that we have the use of are better because of water pumps. For people who do not have access to city or county water lines, having a well on their property is the next best thing.
The Hand Pump was first installed in wells on the outside of homes or in a town square for public use. This was a simple mechanical design that used air and the pumping action to bring water up through a pipe. This made the old rope and bucket in the well pretty much obsolete. Even better was when people started putting the pipes and pump handles inside the home itself. This made the need to carry water from the outside to the inside obsolete. This is how the inside plumbing came into play for our more modern society even though it has been discovered that some ancient civilizations had a similar inside plumbing.
We have water pumps in our vehicles that distribute the water the engine needs in order to work right. Electric pumps are now used in the wells people have to supply water to their homes. We also use smaller versions of water pumps for things like fountains, swimming pools, and even fish aquariums. Large industries that need water pumped in and out use them too. Water or bilge pumps are used in boats to expel water if it springs a leak. Bilge pumps can be used to remove water from flooded homes or other building. City and county water suppliers use pumps to supply water to thousands of homes from their locations.
Humans must have water to consume and to use for many other things in order to survive. The water pump just makes getting water where it needs to go a lot easier than it used to be. It is sad that many people in the world still have to travel by foot or cart to the nearest stream or other Water Supply to fill up buckets, jugs, or other containers just to get their daily supply of water. For those that no longer have to deal with this particular chore anymore, we should be very grateful for the invention of the water pump.
